Yeaahh, he was teaching this kid all sorts of cool stuff. Owls were cool. He grinned in response.
He shrugged and moved onto the weird pointy hats they had to wear. "My dad went to Hogwarts. All the kids on my street do, too." He had grown up in the wizarding community in Upper Flagley, so he had learned all sorts of things about Hogwarts when the older kids would come home for the summer.
Of course, growing up in Upper Flagley meant he also heard what the other kids said about muggleborns. He thought it was kind of dumb, though, being mean to somebody just because their parents were muggles. Piers thought it was kind of cool that wizards just appear in a family tree of muggles. So Piers nodded at Javy. "Yeah." He was probably dead good at magic and he didn't even know. 'Cause right now he looked kind of clueless.
"I'm from France, by the way," Piers said, responding to his earlier question. "Mum's French, dad's English, but I lived in France 'til I was 8. Then I moved here with my dad." And those few years between eight and eleven years old had quite a bit of moving. |
