Ian laughed. Yeah. You can lose house points for any number of things. Accidents or not, they do it to keep us from burning the school down I think. House points are earned by doing good things and go toward the house cup, an award presented to the house with the most points at the end of the year. Hufflepuff has won both years I've been there, so we are the House Cup Champions. It's rather exciting to see your house banner at the end of term feast.

Ian pushed his trunk up onto the train and then got AJ's and began to do the same. He wasn't sure that she wanted his help, but he was giving it. That was the proper thing to do. Soon, they were traipsing down the hall, trunks (and owl) stored in the baggage compartment and looking for a place to sit. You can choose wherever you would like to sit. I don't have anyone special I need to sit with, so I'll go wherever you'd like.
