"So that is why you came here," he said, maybe as a joke, maybe not. Mom wanted a little revenge on the step-monster? Bwahahahaha. Make the kid do the dirty work. He liked it.

Wes nearly gasped when she pulled a dog treat out of her purse. Pippin LOVED treats. The puppy had been sitting patiently by the counter, but now he was up and wagging his tail in excitement, eyeing the treat. But no barking. Because he was a good little puppy.

"Go for it," Wes said with a grin. He took her money and counted out the change. Once he was done, he pushed her bag of tricks across the counter and held out her change. "Anything else I can do for you today?"
