Derek was so absorbed in thoughts about his lab and it was so freakishly quiet down there, that when the other man yelled back up to the people that stayed behind, he was startled. Hopefully he managed to hide that well, but he glanced in the general direction of the MLE person with a frown but didn't look straight at him.

He had no idea what to expect to find down there but he was curious to see if the whole building was repelling magic or if it had just been the entrances that were doing that. Derek walked over one of the fireplaces for the Floo Network and knelt down by it. He hadn't brought any Floo Powder with him - he had never been the person to carry that sort of stuff in his pockets - so he wasn't able to test the real thing now, but he slowly waved his wand around the fireplace while mumbling the Revealing Charm.

....Oh, and he had totally ignored the other guy. Sorry 'bout that.
