No... that didn't seem right.

"Upset...is not really the right word." Surprise was more like it. Uncertainty had bothered him as well, which left bothered on the more appropriate word list as well. Slowly he turned back towards her as she contunued, stumbling over her words this time and doing more of an interpretation of him then herself. "And if I was, I couldn't exactly be at you since...since we were both...involved." It took two to tango last time he checked.

But neither of them needed to be upset in the end as she wasn't pregnant after all. A relief in some ways...confusing in others. And that wasn't just from his end as Elinor expressed further feelings for the situation. I don't know how to feel about that. Did that mean that she would have been okay if she had been pregnant? Did she deep down want to have been pregnant? Was it him that she was concerned about?

When he thought about it long enough Nigel registered they were kind of in a standstill in their relationship and the future even without the mention of a child or children for that matter. Maybe in truth they really needed to talk over this type of thing and this was really just a nudge in the right direction. And if that was the case, they might just need a more comfortable location then the shop. "It is a lot to take in," he agreed as he bit the inside of his cheek debating what to do.

"Come..." he said, tentatively reaching to take her hand. "We'll talk." With that being said, the shopkeeper lead them both back to his office or floo, whichever way it went.
All she could really do was listen and nod, hearing him talk. He seemed to be thinking out loud, more than talking, which eased the pressure of trying to respond. He was over there, thinking it over, which was all she could really ask of him. Elinor watched him as he moved, but, again, tried not to stare. She just wanted to pay attention to him. Make sure he was okay.

Elinor almost literally jumped to take his hand. After hesitating only a moment to register what he had said, she willingly slipped her hand into his and let him lead the way. Now the nerves were calming. She was still tense, and she felt her stomach shaking uncomfortably, but suddenly everything felt much more comfortable. Maybe this would turn out a lot better than she feared. It wasn't often that Nigel was the one to flat-out say that they needed to talk. But the fact that he arrived at that conclusion with little pushing from her end meant a lot more to her than she expected.

Being in his office brought some memories with it. All of them good memories, in the end. But having this discussion here did put a little pressure on her. On one hand, this was Nigel's space. He was bound to feel comfortable here. On the other hand, she didn't want anything that might be said to taint that safety for him. She respected his spaces, and she wanted him to feel secure. To date, she couldn't think of anything that would make her worry about a conversation that would end badly. Just from his willingness, she felt like nothing about this might be as bad as she thought. But Elinor was a worrier, and always was.

Being in his space, she wanted to let him have the first word. And then she was conflicted, because that might make him feel all the more pressured. So she picked something nice and unimposing to say.

"I'm sorry my timing is all wrong," she said, with a hint of a laugh, which was forced to try to make her feel better. She tried to focus on the feeling of her hand in his, not knowing how long he would keep it there. Her grip relaxed enough to let him know that he was not trapped there. All she was worried about revolved around him being comfortable. She was prepared for whatever might be said. Elinor was just scared about how he was going to feel.
