He arrived at the park about 20 minutes before the time they had decided to meet, just to make sure everything was already in place when Maria got there. He didn't carry a bag around, but he knew pulling lots of things out of his pockets wouldn't look very attractive.

In about 5 minutes, the snacs were all set nicely on the picnic cloth. Jared sneakly enchanted the cloth so when they sat on it it wouldn't feel like the hard ground, but some nice cushions. Perfect. Everything was ready now.

The 29 year-old walked over to the nearest tree and leaned against it, taking the last few minutes before Maria arrived to think about his business at the Ministry. Or the fact he wasn't able to enter the Ministry at all when he tried to a couple of days ago. The thought brought a slight frown to Jared's face as he pondered what in the world was wrong with the building.
Sweet Merlin, she was actually wearing a dress.

Anyone who knew Maria Jennings would know that she didn't do dresses. Didn't do anything other than jeans, a simple top and trainers. Maybe flats too. But dresses? Not a chance. But, as she constantly reminded herself for the past couple of days, this was a date. A date with someone she had known back during her Hogwarts days. It didn't mean that she could come in any old clothes, something her sister was oh-so-kind enough to remind her about.

Not wanting to be late, Maria looked both ways before hurrying across the street and through the entrance into the park. Perfect. Now she just needed to find that mermaid lover that was her date. Weird, this was. And yet, as much as she was trying to hide it, she was nervous. Nervous and so much in her own head that she almost missed a very important clue.

Almost.

If there was a picnic cloth here, then that meant that there had to be a Jared here too. Okay, mermaid man, come out wherever you-- What was up with his face? "Oh come on, it can't be that bad going on a date with me," Teasing, she was, with her raised eyebrows and the small smirk that was playing on her face. And did he notice that she was wearing a dress for once? Did he? He'd better.

No really. What's wrong, Cattermole?
