The redhead with the now messy braid plopped her bag into the dirt. She got a little too excited back there, didn't she? Whatever. That's what dematuration was all about. And it was all about a word that Caelen just made up off the top of her head, but that wasn't important. She wanted to figure out her birthday present. Especially if it was something her idiot brother bought for her.

Her brother didn't know her AT ALL. Well he knew that she was his little sister and he knew when she was upset, but other than that, he was clueless. The past four years she had just gotten a science set or a charmed plant for her birthday, no matter how many hints the girl with the braid dropped. She even copied pictures from one year and tried to hang them up in his room. Yeah, all she got where balls of paper to the face. And her mom just laughed at their game. Not that the kid minded, they didn't hurt or anything.

But this year his mom said that the present was going to be awesome. She promised that he was going to get a good one. And she ALWAYS kept her promises about birthday presents. Even when Caelen asked for something stupid. Birthday's were special to their family. It was like their day. And she didn't get to be home on her day. Which meant that she really wished that her brother got something good for her.

Taking out the note that she remembered from that time period, The girl with the braid read over a bit of it to find any clues. Nothing. He was sneakier than a fox. Or that squirrel Rockwell charmed to follow her when she was bored and he wanted her out of his hair. It was fun for a while, but then it started climbing trees and getting away from her! She climbed after and long story short, she spent a couple of months in a leg cast.
