Obviously, she was concerned for her father, but it was hard for her to express her feelings. She didn't exactly like people being able to read her, even though she kind of wanted to Vic to be able to. Whatever, her thoughts were confusing.
January cleared her throat and regained her composure. "Anyway, I thought I'd just let you know in case you didn't see me for a few days." That's all.
She smiled and placed the sandwich in his hand because she could tell he wanted to eat it. "Positive. I'm full." She hadn't been starving to begin with, and she was sure he had a slightly bigger stomach than she did. He could have it all to himself. ....

Right.
Dealing with a witness was much easier. They expected you to tell them what they needed to do at court, who to talk to and how to stay safe until trial day. But this, this was torture and puzzles and he just sat there with his arm around her shoulders, nothing came out. Not that she was giving any vibes, either.
He cleared his throat when she talked. "No, yeah, sure. I'm glad you told me. I want you to be able to tell me... everything." Gulp. Neck rubbing. Gulp. This was too hard, man.
"Yes, thank you." Food was perfect, maybe he should stuff his face with it and busy himself with it. |
