That had been her original sentiment. But it also came as a testimony to how accurate some of Jorge's articles were. "I just feel that this whole thing is being far blown out of proportion when I don't think he belongs here in the first place." And if she wanted to take that remark personally too, so be it. It wasn't intended as any sort of reflection on her, but Mariel was beyond frustrated at this point and just wanted to take Jorge home.
Taken care of quickly.. yes, that's exactly what she wanted and she lent the man in front of her the faintest of smiles. Now she was getting somewhere. "That would suit me just fine, thank you," she said, giving him a slight nod as he gestured back to where she had been sitting a moment ago and she walked back over to take a seat. Waiting for Mr. Tamerlane to join her in a quiet corner, the brunette took a deep breath as she thought over the events."Mariel Morgan.. Department Head of Magical Games and Sports," she first identified herself for the man. "Alright," she finally began as she collected her thoughts. "I was on my lunch break at a muggle cafe when I got in line at the counter to get some more coffee before I headed back to work. While I was waiting, one of your coworkers, Simon.." Something.. did she ever know his last name? "Came up behind me and we engaged in conversation for a few minutes. We had been acquainted before today and he was congratulating me on my recent promotion. Then, he started hinting around about asking me out." She shook her head a bit at this. Of course she was flattered but he had to know that it wouldn't have happened. "I started to question him about it since he wasn't being very straightforward and it was at this time that the man you have in custody, Jorge Cristo De La Garza, came over. I believe that he was on a working lunch." She didn't really know for certain unable to really speak much to him, but it had been deduced from certain things said and observed. "Because he had been at another table and the location of my own table, I actually was not aware of his presence until I had gotten in line and I don't know that Simon knew that he was there at all until he came over." Would he have tried to ask her out if he had known? She wasn't sure but maybe it would have saved a lot of trouble. "Anyway," she continued, "Jorge and I have been dating for some time and I believe he either heard Simon's attempts or saw my questioning reaction which prompted him to come to my defense. Angry words were exchanged between the two of them, which continued to escalate. Simon brought up some very.. personal information that he had been aware of." She shifted in her seat uncomfortably. "It was something very upsetting to me and I reacted with some words of my own. Simon's words and my visible upset in turn upset Jorge and he shoved Simon as he basically told him to mind his own business. It was then that Simon grabbed a hold of Jorge's arm and twisted them both behind his back, making his intention clear that he meant to arrest him. I protested of course, but he soon took him out of sight. And here we are." She gestured with her hands a bit at her last words. Not really a reason to place someone in a cell, in her opinion, and now she wanted him out. Quote:

She wouldn't deny that things had perhaps escalated quickly, but it was Jorge who'd started it all. The journalist had brought it upon himself. That being said... she needed to speak to Bennett now. Mmhhmm. "Once you're done here, Dorian, could you please escort her to the holding area also? Thank you." Since the woman was so keen on the journalist. Something she wouldn't even try to understand. Excusing herself, Emily headed back up the tunnel in the direction of their pseudo work floor. Ms. Morgan hadn’t been speaking to him, yet Dorian had been tempted to respond to her little insistence that things were being blown out of proportion. He wasn’t entirely versed in Muggle law enforcement, but he seemed to recall instances of people being held for belligerence, t least until they calmed down. As far as he was concerned, having the reporter in holding was for everyone’s safety. Nobody was about to act rash here in the “department”, and he was certain that none involved had done so out of boredom. He knew Simon relatively well, and the younger man hadn’t ever seemed half as compulsive as, say, Carter regularly was. In any case, he held back from commenting, as the woman had obliged in his request and moved back to the seats to hopefully demonstrate that she could actually be efficient. He didn’t have all day either, after all, no matter how little he had by way of files regarding his division due to the lockout.
Following her over, he settled himself in a chair, shifting it enough so he was facing her simply for business purposes. He had given her a nod as she’d begun speaking, scribbling her name down in his notebook and turning his gaze back to her as her account of the situation unfolded. “Bennett,” he supplied, as she’d paused at Simon’s name, but for the most part he stayed silent, taking notes and otherwise keeping his attention on her. There wasn’t need to interrupt simply to disagree on points, and honestly, there wasn’t much to debate. To his ears, it seemed the reporter had asked for the treatment, had started the situation. Everything up to his involvement had seemed innocent, whether Simon had possibly been a bit misguided in his choice to ask her on a date. That wasn’t why they were there. The reporter’s rather overt animosity toward MLE was well noted, anyhow, so it was entirely possible this was due to happen eventually. She just felt the need to step in.
Writing a few final notes, he glanced over as he heard Emily addressing him. “Of course. It looks like we’re about done, anyway,” he replied, before turning his grey eyes back to Ms. Morgan. “Unless there’s anything else you’d like to add to your statement.” She’d seemed intent on making sure they weren’t mistreating the reporter, so he assumed she wouldn’t have much left to say and stood up again, noting Anna out of the corner of his eye sort of hovering at the entrance, taking stock of things like he knew she would. “If not, follow me and I’ll show you to where he’s being kept.” They weren’t barbarians here, even if they’d been relegated to the underground. He may as well prove that while they were there.
