She hadn't brought up her father's physical and mental state with him, or anyone for that matter. It was a hard thing to discuss, but perhaps not as difficult with Vic because she knew he may have some understanding of what it was like to lose your parents. His situation had indeed been different, though. How was she holding up? She was felt scared, nervous, guilty of not be able to take care of him herself, worried that this wouldn't work and that he wouldn't last much longer. She was holding up a lot of emotions and all them seemed to stress her out when she thought about it too much. "I'm okay," she said putting on a small smile. She could do it. It would be okay.

"Do you want to finish my sandwich?" she asked, picking it up in its wrapper. Turns out she hadn't been that hungry. And she could use a subject change. No need to weigh her problems down on Vic, right?
They were okay? Was that all she was going to give him? Vic smirked at her but didn't get the chance to reply to her because she was sort of packing things up and dumping them away and he tried to help but didn't know what to do, tidying up and being neat didn't come natural to him like the womenfolk.

She was okay. And this time it wasn't teasing, she was trying to be brave as he expected. Vic had no idea how to react to this. Should he push her a little? What if she started crying or yelling at him? Maybe he should play it cool and just nod at her. That would be so insensitive, he knew this much. Maybe he should just wrap an arm around her shoulders, maybe that was why she scooted closer to him. Awman! Since when was he bad at reading people??? Okay, just consider her a witness in a trial... just a witness... juuust a normal witness... Vic's arm wrapped around her shoulders and he squeezed one of them encouragingly, "It'll be okay. You can do this." Lame, mister lawyer.

FOOD. Yes, please, whew! "Are you sure?" He extended his free hand towards the half-sandwich but didn't take it all to himself yet. They could share the half sandwich.
