"Stings, doesn't it?" He smirked, being called drama queen was amusing actually, it doesn't really "sting". He was going to tell Lucie how funny January was.
Vic dropped the humor and the smirk when the issue seemed to be of great importance. He leaned forward on his thighs and nodded his head a bit solemnly at January. "Yes. That's understandable." He didn't know the details of her father's condition, but he was sure it took too much time trying to provide him with the best health care his daughters wished to offer. He didn't pay attention to her work arrangements, that wasn't what concerned him now. "How are you holding up?" She was a strong woman, she held herself perfectly well on the outside, but would she be able to open up about what she was really feeling? Vic was a perfect listener. Was that him discreetly complimenting himself? Even if he wasn't, January smiled over at him. "You guys are okay," she teased. There really was too much space between them, wasn't there? January piled up the garbage and put it in the bag the sandwiches came in. Once she moved it to the other side of her, January scooted over so she could sit closer to Vic.
She hadn't brought up her father's physical and mental state with him, or anyone for that matter. It was a hard thing to discuss, but perhaps not as difficult with Vic because she knew he may have some understanding of what it was like to lose your parents. His situation had indeed been different, though. How was she holding up? She was felt scared, nervous, guilty of not be able to take care of him herself, worried that this wouldn't work and that he wouldn't last much longer. She was holding up a lot of emotions and all them seemed to stress her out when she thought about it too much. "I'm okay," she said putting on a small smile. She could do it. It would be okay. "Do you want to finish my sandwich?" she asked, picking it up in its wrapper. Turns out she hadn't been that hungry. And she could use a subject change. No need to weigh her problems down on Vic, right? |
