She shrugged, what else was she going to do. I’m sorry to hear that, one of the worst sayings ever made, because people aren’t sure what else to say, a break up, a death, and it’s just I’m sorry to hear that then awkward, but she wasn’t going to let this go awkward. “It happens, nothing anyone could do.” She glanced up at him as he asked about the girls, now he could cue the awkward, because what normal mother did what she did, “Oh well.. .They are with Charely at the moment. I had to take care of some things before we do a joint custody. So I want fully be alone. He will be there as well.” She knew they could work together for their girls and it wasn’t like there was bad blood, though he had ever right to be upset. He treated her like gold and she just left. Ill or not, it wasn’t right and she would live with that. Oh and house hunting, “Oh well thank you, I might just take you up on that.” She could probably use a man’s help, no one seemed to take the women seriously when it came to big purchases.
So it was settled she would try to make a point to go to another department, it was a challenge she would fully accept and try, why not. What did she really have to lose except sometime of working, but she was working extra to keep her mind off of personal, so it should be alright to have a little extra break. “Owling sounds good and the café does sound perfect. If your break room is anything like ours I understand.” The hangar wasn’t falling apart, but it was just so dull and dirty. Maybe she could charm some walls or something to make it a little more colorful.
Gavin’s sense of humor, she tried to figure out why people wouldn’t get it, but she really knew why. “Well this man seems to need to just lighten up a bit.” Life was too short to be so uptight. “Do I dare ask what the conversation was about?” With Gavin it really could be anything. Her smiled back on her lips and a possible small blush on her cheeks she looked down, “Well maybe you’re right. I might try to go sometime, Bart might like to go as well.” Of course she’d think of things to do with her kids. So why not ice skate. “Oh I’m sure you both won in the end.” That was all she was going to say about that. Perhaps he shouldn't have been as amused as he was by the thought of not giving himself enough credit. There were a few people he would have loved for her to say this in front of, maybe then they would stop pointing fingers at his ego. It was quite the contrary though, some would argue that he gave himself too much credit. "No...pretty sure she'd agree I'm awful for her." It'd be a joke of course but he could still see it along with a bit of dramatics.
Gavin was pleasantly surprized that his awkward statement hadn't turned the conversation for the worst and was set to move on knowing he hadn't tanked their little talk but then he could feel it, that thick layer of awkward that finally settled between them both at the mention of the girls. It wasn't very promising at all. "Oh." Was all he got out at first. It really was surprizing if only for the fact he didn't think Vic would have left them but given that she needed to sort things out first it might have been on the more selfless side. "And you've got enough taken care of now to allow for the joint custody to go over smoothly?" Despite having no children of his own, he understood how disastrous these custody things could get. It's why he didn't question his sister's choice to take the girls and run. "It's no problem. I'd like to think that by now I've got the hang of this house hunting thing." And he'd be more than happy to help.
There were plans in the making that distracted from the earlier, less comfortable topics. He cracked a smile at the mention of her break room. "Cafe it is. I heard they've been known to make excellent sandwiches. It'll be my treat." Taking her our of the Hanger, with nice food and fantastic company. In his mind his company alone would have been the icing on the cake, everything else would be excess but all geared towards returning the woman to some degree of normalcy. He could do without nearly seeing her cry again.
Oh she wanted to hear about the conversation. It wasn't anything tremendously bad, he didn't mind sharing. With a small shrug he tried to remember the exact line of conversation that had taken place. It was over a year ago, these things got fuzzy. "I believe Mr. Neves was looking to get a better knowledge of the building, being new and curious, I suggested he stop by Level 9, turns out he did." Gavin liked having his advice taken into consideration so there were no complaints with him. It was Ashby that had his knickers in a knot and a tight one at that. "How is Bart doing by the way?" At the mention of the boy he had to ask. Last he saw him he was crashing into people in shops. As for both wining...."I like to think so. She benefitted as much as I did." Even if she never said it.
