It was difficult to make out what everyone had been saying, Cutty was so far up, but he did catch the Professor tell him that he'd get him down. Right, so all Cutty had to do was wait. His arms clutched his bag. He was not about to lose all of his sellable product along with his wand that day. Not happening.

Cutty adjusted his bag so that he was no work to hold it and shoved his hands into his pockets waiting not unlike a damsel to be rescued. It would happen. They would do it. His neck was bent back so as to get a better look at everyone. There was the cute Hufflepuff girl who seemed to be offering up something...CHOCOLATE FROGS! AHA! She was a potential buyer and with having given them up at this very moment, she would need more. Maybe Marigold knew her name.

"Ah haaaa! Excellent, Cutty! You're flying!" Sophie said, grinning upward. If he reacted in any way like he did when that Beauxbatons girl turned him into an animal, she knew he'd appreciate this for what it was. Who else got dangled in the air by a tree?

He was asking for his wand, and she almost wanted to find it first just to she could bribe him with it. The professor was calling on someone else to do it, though, so she guessed she should just leave it be. "Thanks for a great lesson, sir," she said. Really great. Cutty had been mildly ATTACKED. hahaha

"Yes, Sir!" Beverly saluted the professor, making way toward the older student groups. She didn't get far when Lux mentioned she had chocolate. That was lucky, wasn't it? Well, for the Slytherin dangling from the tree.

"She has chocolate, Professor," Bev pointed out, shrugging her eyebrows at Lux. How was he going to make the exchange, though? If he resuscitated the Willow, wouldn't it attempt to squish them?

"How are you--" she began to ask, but a certain glint on the ground caught her eye. It was too well taken care of to be a twig. Hehe, there it was.

"I FOUND it." Hobbling at one mile per hour, Beverly went to retrieve a certain someone's wand. Ha.

Beverly Wayne felt powerful with two wands, one in each hand.

So let's make a deal, hmm?

"What would I have to trade you in order to get possession of that wand?" she point blank asked. "I must have Cutty Mordaunt's wand. You see, I've been practical joking on this kid since the start of this school year, and...I really must have that wand."

Okay, so what do you want? What'll it be? A chocolate frog? A galleon?

Sophie grinned at the professor and waved as he walked off. "I'll stay with THE BOY!" she said. Cue another sly grin. "He's in good hands with me!"

Hee hee. 'The boy'.

He seemed like a fit wizard, for his age. So when the Newell kid came over to her, Beverly raised an eyebrow at her.

Hmmm. So she wanted Mordaunt's wand. Ha! Good luck, she wasn't trading it for anything. Beverly turned her nose up, her eyes on the girl.

"Unless you have a cure for rapid aging, nope," she said, tucking Cutty Mordaunt's wand inside her robes pocket. That was REALLY all that she'd exchange the wand for. What else would a girl that has everything she dreams of want?

That and Cutty Mordaunt has potential of being a great ally.

"Do I look like I have a cure for rapid aging?" she asked the girl. Connections. She needed CONNECTIONS. Oh! What was that Aunt Sierra had said about... "So, Beverly...how's Kennedy doing these days?" she asked.

GIVE ME THAT WAND.

She would take it by force if she had to. She could upstage a third year.

How did this girl know HER brother?

"He's doing splendid," she replied casually. Then with a scowl, "How do you know my brother?" And who did she think she was to bring him up right now?!

Brother?! WHOA. Sophie had actually thought he was a cousin, but this was even better. "Oh, he's just dined at my grandparents' house some," Sophie answered. Only once, but Beverly didn't need to know that. Also, Sophie hadn't even been there, but Beverly didn't need to know that either.

Anddddd... "He's pretty involved with my aunt," Sophie finally said. "Pretty cool to think he might be Uncle Kennedy one day, eh?" Sophie and Beverly were practically COUSINS...or something.

As far as she knew Kennedy's only been at the Greingoth's ONCE. True, she didn't know if that was completely right; he hadn't told her of any more visits. But if Newell thought she didn't know her brother well enough, she was WRONG.

She crossed her arms. "Oh, really? So involved they haven't seen each other in ages." She's heard him tell Johnathan all his sorrows about missing his girlfriend (ex? whatever).

Beverly kept a cool expression when Newell called HER BROTHER 'Uncle Kennedy'. In her mind, she'd already thumped the younger girl all the way to Mars. Good thing she knew something Newell didn't know about her brother, and that made her feel better, but this called for something more.

She shrugged. "I wonder what his other girlfriend would think about that. Eve won't be too happy." Beverly was already apologizing to Kennedy for this GIGANTIC LIE. But her brother was hers.

And she didn't want to lose to a second year.

So Beverly wasn't going to hand over the wand, hmm? Fine then, Wayne! Sophie would just put Beverly on THE LIST then. The list of people she needed to one-up at least at some point in her life. She'd lost this round, but the next round was her's!

Sophie bit her bottom lip. Right. They hadn't seen one another in ages, but she didn't expect Beverly to know that. Or at least remember that. Sighhh. Then--BURN. "His other..." Pause. Oh, my Merlin! Sophie had to write to her Aunt Sierra! Kennedy Escalante = BUSTED.

"Well then, if you'll excuse me, I have to make a trip to the owlery," she said. She passed a final look at Cutty Mordaunt, because who would want to forget that image, then left the area.

OOC: Whoaaaa, major plot for us! I'm going to cut this short, though, since we ARE in class. We should finish this one day, though!

"Yes, why don't you go tell Sierra about it," she said to the girl and watched her leave. MERLIN SHE NEEDED TO STOP.

Her shoulders sagged after Newell left, but she wasn't done. She was going to tell Kennedy what happened - tweak the story here and there, of course - and warn him of evil, punching Newells.

GAAAAAH!

By the looks of it, it was time to get out of there. Once Botros announced it, Bev didn't hesitate to move. If the man was telling them go away, he meant it. The third year hobbled toward the castle as fast as a ninety year old woman-child could, forgetting all about Mordaunt's wand in her pocket.

Then Cutty spotted the most interesting thing to him. Wayne had picked up his wand and pocketed it and Sophie had approached her. He looked over at Alec to see if he'd caught this. Cutty reached up for his dangling school bag, which was hanging right-side up. He inched it up smoothly, like a spider hoisting the thing strands of his web. When it was close enough he unfastened the side-zipper and pulled out his extendable ear.

It apparently had a range on it, but he was still able to pick up the basic jist of Sophie wanting his wand (and of course she did, she was mad for him!) and Bev not giving it to her for reasons he thought not at all related to friendly allegiance. He simply wrote it up to him having let her get by on her good credit and providing her with her fill of sweets. Cause you know, what he had done for her was what he could do for her again, and Bev's monetary status was such that he couldn't see her pull any uncouth maneuvers. Class.

Also, Wayne apparently had a brother....who Sophie had dinner with.

Toby had been watching, though. He could get more details from him.

Better run if you don't wanna end up like a tree ornament!

Now, he needed someone to distract the tree with those chocolates while he got Mordaunt down. Preferably without paralyzing the moving parts of the tree.

ooc: - Everyone done with their curse is officially dismissed now, unless you want to stick around for fun, of course. :3
- Seventh year, you can try and finish real quick!
- The thread won't close until much later.

"Can I help, sir? I mean... I'm not bad with charmswork." Mo spun his wand and dropped it. Sort of good, usually... helped when his hands were actually 16 and not 80.

The tree began to stir about, but the branches which held Cutty suspended like a pinata did not unfreeze and thus there he remained. Perhaps, luckily as he might have been swallowed or fallen to his death. Though Cutty didn't see it that way for to him a change (any at all) was simply another word for: Opportunity worth exploiting.

He wished he'd had his wand. Immobulus. Imobulus all. Day. Long.
