Sander wondered why Tessa had taken a step from him. Maybe it was to give him more room...not that he needed it. So he moved closer to a shelf laden with candy, hoping that he could drop what he was holding into one of the containers there, without Tessa noticing he was doing so.
"Me too. I haven't seen some of the candy before either. I wonder whether the cockroach clusters actually contains cockroach." he pointed out to Tessa.
Tessa saw Sander's strange look, but there wasn't an excuse for why she had pulled away that she was willing to give. He would just have to trust her- which he was sure he did. If only she had something to wrap it in...
She made a face at the candy that Sander brought up. "Well, you can try it first and let me know," she told him with a nod. "I'll stand ready with something safe and delicious," she assured him. Although, if they did that, she wasn't going to guarantee that whatever candy she was holding for him would be in one piece. And, being in this store, her sweet tooth was acting up big time.
"So, do you have a favorite candy?" she asked Sander and she moved down the aisle to look at some of the other candy, adjusting what she was holding to continue concealing the maple fudge she was hiding from him.
