Ben wasn't a fan of the professor's use of tricky. Not one bit. He was already not the greatest in the class, now he had to do something considered 'tricky' by a potions master, or at least he felt his students including the other ones, would have some difficulty. Great...just great. Taking up the hellebore syrup after writing down in his notes, the second added it to the brewing potion, that step easy enough. It was upon seeing the description of what he had to do with the pufferfish eyes that he realized where the trouble lay. Trying to make a small cut on the back of a small round object.
Taking up his cleaned knife, he paused and bit his lip before trying the first time. Unfortunately it slipped around in his grasp. So it did on the second and third tries as well and the pufferfish eye in his hand fell to the counter and rolled along it, stopped thankfully by the bowl he had set aside earlier. Ben couldn't help but sigh in frustration. Deciding to try without his gloves, the Gryffindor slipped off his left glove since his right was doing the cutting. He then picked the eye back up and cast a quick "Scourgify" upon it.
Now lets try this again.
It took him a few more shots including nearly slicing his now-bare finger with his knife before Ben managed to get the two puffer fish eyes Then setting down his knife, he used his gloved hand to squeeze the insides out into the potion, juggling them as he did so. Finally he believed all was done and the Gryffindor could actually relax. Although getting the eeriely empty eyes to the rubbish bin beat out and he got up to do so before returning to his seat to await what was next.
