Oh good...he wasn't out of the loop due to his arrival later then the rest. Ben turned where Professor Tyner nodded, spotting the Slytherin captain standing there working on brooms. Right...Mr. Odessa was his name, the second year matching up all mentions to put a face to a name. He was about to move towards him when he was asked his name.

"Ben...Benjamin Atreyu," he supplied before moving to help where he had been placed.

Ben watched what was being done, to try and get a feel for what he was to do. Nothing had actually been said to him after all, perhaps something had come up before he had gotten there. They appeared to be washing the twigs of the broom tails. "So I take a broom and dip it inside the water mixture?" he questioned, taking one such broom carefully in his hands and tentatively holding it over a bucket. The Gryffindor slowly lowering it towards the liquid but giving time to protest if he was wrong.
