"That's the thing though. I don't think we will be. Normally the pay cut wouldn't bother me, but..." he was unsure of how much he should say, not wanting to make Emily feel guilty, or even worse than he could now see that she did. Of course she was the boss, she'd have to get used to seeing people unhappy with decisions that she'd made. That didn't mean that he liked being the first person to remind her of the human factor involved with pay cuts.

"I've recently gained custody of my niece and nephew. While my wage would be sufficient for looking after myself with the expenses associated with children it wont be," he said blandly. "My original plan was to move them here and continue with my current job. I've lived in England for years now and I quite enjoy it. I love my job too, and you're an amazing boss, really," Skander said, giving her a real smile.

Unfortunately, his love of his job wasn't going to make him stay.

"A month ago I was offered a job at the Australian Ministry."
