Ian had tried to follow the directions and instructions. He had just got the point where he had out his parchment and quill when it seemed the professor asked a question. As he was inattentive, he had missed the questions but he tried to catch what the other students were saying. Of course it sounded all muffled and difficult to decipher. Why couldn't these kids speak up so he could hear.

Fortunately for him, he heard something about Chort. He didn't know one things about anything named chort. Maybe it was some odd tea flavor from this professor's home country because obviously she wasn't from around here. He just tried to appear engaged so he wouldn't fall asleep during the lecture.
