Dementors. West went very still at mention of those and his eyes came to rest on the Professor. Easily go wrong... explosion... yeah. Yeah. West never did find out exactly what had happened there, or why things had been tampered with, but he also hadn't thought it appropriate to ask. But he DID very very much remember Botros essentially saving his life. The old man had been his favourite since then.
After taking a second to recover from his own memories, West returned the professor's smile and sauntered back to his seat, folded himself into it, and then waited for Ella to go up there.
He liked her question well enough. West put his hand up.
"Ehwaz is a movement and transportation rune. You can invoke it magically to move things, or to make heavy things easier to move." Yeah. Pretty cool. "Like you could carve it or paint it on a giant stone and it'd be much easier to move. One of the theories that I liked is that the pyramids in Egypt were built in this way - muggle slaves did the grunt work, but wizardkind used Ehwaz among other rune symbols marked on the giant stone blocks so that they'd actually be easier to put in place without actually having to have a witch or wizard standing there and levitating them."
