Because if not, this opened up a whole new door. A possibly dangerous door, but a door was a door.

Walking around the pathways, she actually found a few places to hide things. Nothing major, she wasn't smuggling things into the school, but she wanted to hide things. Almost like a child in a secret hideout, but not because she was older. Well, in age anyway. No matter how many times her mom told her to act older or trained her to be a lady, Caelen still had a little bit of her brother in her.

And anyway, she was slightly bored. Right now she was carrying a small vial of potion in her right hand and looking suspiciously at people, wondering who would be the best person to ask. She didn't feel like walking away awkwardly again. That didn't seem fun.

The child tapped her index fingernail against the vial the potion was in and bit her lip in thought. Would she be able to sneak up on someone, breathe fire on them and then ask them to describe it? How weird was that exactly? How many morals would she have to concede to do such a thing? Answer: not many. Which was the actually surprising part. Maybe their was more Rockwell in her than she thought.
Potions homework consisted of one of two things: making up a new legend by scratch or... breathing fire on someone. And what was Alec planning on doing? Breathing fire. To the boy, it seemed like the simplest suggestion and one he could get done fairly quickly. The other one seemed long and complicated but... this one was easy, right?

He was wrong.

The problem with this... was... finding someone to go up to who'll be willing to help him. Should he have picked a friend? Maybe. Instead, he had decided to make things difficult for himself and wander around until he found the right person. This had eventually led him outside and wandering around along the pathways, the vial of potion clutched in his right hand. He had a journal too, of course, because noting down what the person felt was part of the assignment as well.

After a while, his grey-blue eyes landed on a younger girl and he stopped. Good target? She was holding a vial too so... maybe she needed someone to taste hers as well? Alec hoped so. It was pretty much the only thing he had going for him to secure a 'yes' from a completely stranger. Taking a deep breath, he headed over towards her. Cool. Act cool, Summers.

"I'll let you try out your potion on me if I can try out mine on you."

... Cool... was not in his list of personality traits.

Also. Hey there.
