“I don’t care, Kyle. I told it didn’t matter who your uncle was. And we’ve been dating regardless.”
“It may be worse. I won’t put you through the trouble.”
Simon ran the conversation over and over in his head the days after the break-up. He had lost the one girl he had ever cared about because of his job. And as much as he had always wanted to be an auror, it didn’t seem worth it at the moment.
Sitting down on his couch with a sigh, alone in his apartment now that Sabel was gone, his eyes spotted the textbooks from his law classes. The program he had put on hold when he had finally gotten into the YATI program. Maybe…just maybe…it was time to get back into them. Prove he was more than just Jax’s hard-working employee.
Because Simon Bennett was better than that.
