She smiled and watched as his application was turned in. She frowned and shook her head. "I never would have guessed you for the locked up kind of guy." However, he did have a point. It wouldn't be easy going out being who he was. "I was really outgoing when I was in school. Quidditch. Gobstones. I did it all."
A frown fell upon her face, one she didn't want to have around Jasper but when she thought of all the things she did at school it brought up Marco and the never ending guilt she felt over how she had treated him and Jason. Taking a deep breath she pushed the negative away placing a small, but not so real smile on her face. She realized then that Jasper was talking to a little girl and Heather stood there awkwardly. She was getting better but not good enough to talk to strangers, even little ones. Part of being in Magical law Enforcement, it made you distrust almost everyone. And then it happened for a second time. She wanted something, perhaps needed something. Should he have done it back? What a fine line it was between cruelty and kindess. Jasper put his arm around Heather giving her a side-to-side hug as she pointed out his error. "I didn't. But I meant it. I was somewhat hoping you'd use your empathetic communication." He was joshing. Or he'd better have been.
His smile purveyed a teasing sort of air about it. His entire expression, in fact as he released Heather from the hug. "Twice voted most popular, queen of the maypole, envy of all the girls!" He added to her list of things that he thought girls like her were involved in while at school, most, if not all, of which he'd made up. "And, Merlin, Heather! I'm practically a shut-in!" He was going to go into how very opposite their social experiences must have been at Hogwarts, but he noticed the mirthless little smile.
"Alright?" His concern evident upon his face. Had he teased a bit too much for a day?
