So she dressed simply in a pair of lilac robes, the only adornment a silver necklace she had gotten from Jason back in February for no particular reason at all.. Well let's see who's here.
Oh, Anastasia had beaten her here, and so had Callie. At least she wouldn't be lonely up there with many empty seats around her. Stepping smartly onto the dais, the clicking noise from her shoes announced her presence. She smiled warmly as she pulled out her chair and took her seat. "Good evening Callie, Annie," she said, inclining her head towards both. The seat between herself and the Headmistress had been filled ad Callie was able to breathe a sigh of relief--there was at least a tiny buffer zone now. "Good evening Tiara! You look nice, have a good first term?" She hadn't heard anything crazy from Medea that would make the woman want to quiet after the one year at least. Quote:

"It does, doesn't it?" she replied frostily toward the woman. "Where...pray tell...have you been?" Really, she nearly said that the trophy was no thanks to her, but that would have been... accurate. The look she got from the Headmistress was not a happy one, polite for the sake of impressions for a full Great Hall, but still rather piercing. Now she knew how some of the students felt around Hecate. "Yes, very much. I--" And there it was, where had she been. The blonde was tempted to say 'In Africa where you approved that I could go to work on some research' but that wouldn't have gone over well, she knew. She needed to pick her words more carefully. "Well as you knew, Headmistress, I was in Africa helping my colleague from University study some really interesting indigenous forms of Divining. I kind of lost track of time. The findings were developing all at once towards the end and I was there longer than expected." She would receive an official letter of apology later.
Unless this was enough.... Quote:

She looked over the snake table and smiled that proud smile a mother has, even thought Hecate had never wanted to be one. And there was Hecate! Callie could tell that she wasn't in the best mood but it could just be emotions because of the sad news. She was leaving after this term and she surely was going to miss her students and her dungeons. The Ravenclaw Head of House waved to the Slytherin one brightly all the same. She was a severe woman but had always been somewhat kind to Callie. Quote:

The results of his lesson had been sent off to his wizarding astronomer friend for further analysis, and he had hoped that he would have some news to leave students with before summer - especially to those departing seventh years - but it still seemed as though no conclusive evidence regarding the pull of a solar eclipse on one's magic had been determined.
Which, to him meant it was time to just throw in the towel and pick up a better research topic.
Nodding his head to Old Man River as he passed, Airey made his way towards his and and set Pebbles down on the table in front of the seat beside him. The seat that belonged to the Arithmancy professor. The man hadn't been there for the opening feast, so it was a shame to let such a seat go to waste. Besides, Pebbles need to reacquaint herself with Hogwarts and what better way than giving her a special seat with an excellent view. "Headmistress Truebridge! LOOK WHO CAME BACK!" He called with an enthuastic wave towards the woman. "Pebbles informs me that there are no hard feelings regarding her abandonment and she is just please to be back at Hogwarts."
He then saw just who else was seated to his left and choked on air for just a moment. "C-Calista!" he exclaimed. "Good to....good...to...goodtoSEE you...back...here...again....." There was some awkward fidgeting. "Hi."
LeoBALD and his Bumber Broom Companion in Crime also received nods, but he was a little too flustered and stammering to form more coherent sentences. Awwww Airey was excited to see she came back and was embarrassingly shouting to tell Anastasia. He was rather cute when he was that excited. "Oh, Airey I made it back earlier today, the Headmistress already knows th--" Oh.
O____________o
Yeah, he was talking about his pet rock. And then he was actually greeting her. Fidgeting as usual but was there something more or was he just being his usual self? "Hi Airey, I missed you. Have a good term?" She smiled expectantly at him. SPOILER!!: Medea, Airey, and Pebbles Quote:

Fiddling with the bow holding the low pony tail she had, she glanced to her shoulder to make sure the metal butterfly was still there before turning into the noisy hall. Oh dear, how...late was she?
Glancing to her wrist, Medea frowned and subtly shook her head, keeping her gaze upon the floor while heading up to the staff table. Her watch...was on her desk. Hopping up the steps, she finally looked up and smiled towards those who were already there at the opposite end of the table. Hecate, Phina..........Leo........Headmistress, Tiara- "CALLIE!" EEEEE! Best friend alert! "You made it!
Heading around to her seat, she smiled to Abraham and....Airey. Her mission to her seat slowed. "Hi." Splendid looking vest this evening. With an equally fascinating watch. Thing. "...........OH, gospodi! You found Pebbles!" Quote:

Tugging on and adjusting his vest absently, Airey's expression brighten up just a tad more when she greeted him. "Good evening, Medea," he grinned at her. Hmm, something was differently about her. Using his scientific eye, the astronomer eyed her curiously before it hit him. "Love your hair," he blurted out without thinking. He had never seen her with her hair up like that AND with a ribbon in it to boot. He was probably staring for a few moments before he realized that his thoughts had been verbalized. "I . . I, uh . . . love the . . . air."
Uh . . . yeah. Although, it WAS alright to say that sort of thing now, yeah? "I DID!" he exclaimed as he jumped up out of his seat and scooped his pet rock up to show Medea. "I could hardly believe it. It was during my final lesson of the term and there was this annular eclipse. A study is being done by some astronomer friends of mine to see the relationship between solar eclipses and magic, they are hypothesizing that magic strengthens during them...but more likely dark magic...buy anyway, so I'm just standing there watching students test the theory out and, on a whim, try to summon her again when BAM! There she was! Flew right into the fountain there in the Tower Patch."
Looking up from Airey at the sound of her name being shouted followed by a squee, she quickly returned the favor. "MEDEA!!" The Divination Professor hopped up and gave her best friend a tight hug before releasing her to her own chair. "I did, the trip was just fantastic I'll have to show you all the photos and hang on to your seat for this one..." Callie paused as long as she could in her glee to create some sense of tension, "I saw a Nundu!" How awesome was that!
Airey seemed excited to see Medea too and commented on her hair...or the air? Either way her hair DID look nice. "I really love your hair, it's nice to pull it up sometimes, right?" She gave Airey a quick glance of confusion for being weird but then looked back at the DADA professor. "I'm so happy we are all back together!" Best friends being happy together. "Pebbles! You found her?" Callie heard some of the other staff members whispering or shouting at the man to shut up about the rock but she knew how important it was to him. "That's great, you must be so happy." She squeezed his wrist in her hand as she heard him retell the story. She then patted the rock and welcomed her back. Quote:

She's been here all along. She was PROBABLY just mistaken for a PEBBLE." And THAT was probably why her so-called loving dad hadn't found her until now! SO THERE!
LOOK, even LAFAY was getting on the ridiculous man! Ha! Anastasia did nothing to control her potion professor's rage... no, she'd let that spark go for now.... because...
It was time for the speech, she thought. She was hungry, so... words before foods. "HOGWARTIANS!" the redhead stood up, and picked up the trophy with her. "Hogwartians! An exciting term has come to a close!" She waited for the cheers and applause for herself to die down, of course. "I would like to personally thank ALL our staff and students for being EXCELLENT hosts for our foreign visitors, even if they didn't show their gratitude."
She paused for effect. "And I would also like to again congratulate all our student champions! WELL DONE, HOGWARTS! You have made your friends, your family, your professors, your Housemates, and your school, proud. I am proud of all of you."
Yaaaaay happy feelings. Blah blah blah. Now for the domestic winnings. "Congratulations are also in order for our TRIFECTA of House, Quidditch, and Gobstones cup champions... THE HUFFLEPUFF BADGERS!!!!!!" Round of applause for THEM indEED! "And all the other Houses did well too," she mentioned more quietly and with a small wave of her hand. "Congratulations to our graduating seventh years, our departing staff..." she threw a long look down toward the fiery potions mistress, "and those students who are leaving for whatever reason too." She looked out toward a certain scarlet table. "Best of luck to all of you. Now, let's eat!" The Competition had been interesting to follow through the letter and Prophet but it really would have been nice to see it in person. Regardless, it was a good win for Hogwarts.
At the mention of the Hufflepuffs winning each of the House Cups this year was nice for Fina, and she gave her a smile and clapped politely for those students but she felt differently than usual. She was sad because her House hadn't won. Was this how the others felt each term?
She knew her Eagles were too proud to be sad though, they were still smart and clever and great flyers and gobstones plaers. She knew it! Next term would be their year. Quote:

Eyeing her full attire with the turban he said smiling broadly. "You look really lovely to tonight. Nice turban." "I've been fine. How have you been?" And where have you been? But he didn’t ask that out loud. Ah, a hug! Leo was so kind. "Thanks! I picked it up when I was in Africa and thought it would be nice and festive for tonight." She patted it absently as she spoke. "Well that's nice to hear, the Library is still in one piece like it was when I left?" Callie chuckled, although it was a legitimate question. "And I've been well, just busy busy busy with research. It was so nice to get some stuff done even if it meant I had to miss out for part of the term. It's wonderful to be back though." Quote:

No reason to see disappointment until the very end right..
SIGH
But this was the end it was time to say her goodbyes them. She slowly walked to the staff table with her head down, hands in front of her she fidgeted nervously. Heading towards Hadley first at the last minute she chickened out to go near Lafay and turned on her heel and headed to the Safer other end of the table. Giving small Hi's as she made her way to Tyner, whom she never really got to know, she stopped at Elwood, "Professor, thank you for everything. I hope you have a great summer." She eyed the turbin a little curiously but figured it wasn't her place to ask. Oh the students could come up now! She wanted to say hi to a few of them too! "Minerva dear, it's been lovely having you in class. Don't be a stranger, I'm always open for owls." The Hufflepuff Prefect was always so nice. And had been great friends with one of her favorites, Ethan. Quote:

The first person she came across was Airey, the excitable Astronomy teacher. She smiled at him and how happy he was to have his pet rock again, even if she did think it was a bit silly. "Hi there Professor Flamsteed!" she said cheerfully. "How have you and Pebbles been getting on since you were able to find her again?" she asked genuinely. If the man loved that rock, then so be it. She would treat it just as kindly as he did. It IS a girl though, right? she thought, worried she may have said the wrong gender. She pointed her toes together and held a smile, hoping to hide any doubt she might show about her question.
She glanced down the table and saw her Ancient Runes teacher, and gave him a nod and a small smile to let him know she wanted to say something to him too, after she was done speaking with Airey. Ooh and one of her Eagles had made their way to the Staff Table. She was currently speaking with Airey but she was going to wave and say hello just the same. "Good Evening Eliza, have a nice term?" Piers managed to slip in right before the Headmistress began her speech. He might have been taking a snooze on his couch, but he was NOT late. Nope. He quickly slid into his seat, nodding to the woman next to him. "Medea," he greeted. Then he looked past her to the blond with a rather large turban on her head. Interesting. "Welcome back, Calista." Was she going to wear that forever? It looked rather heavy and awkward.
"Thank you Piers, it's good to be home again." Callie raised her glass to the Charms Professor and grinned. |
