Caleb yawned as he stepped out to the courtyard on that Saturday morning. He knew he should be doing homework so he could enjoy himself later and maybe spend some time drawing, but he didn't care. He wanted to take a walk first. Get some fresh air.
As he walked, he picked up his rat, Beans, from his pocket and set him on his shoulder so he could get some fresh air too. He deserved it after all the homework assignments he'd needed him for recently. Poor Beans. Life was hard as a rat.
