Emily took another sip of her drink before pushing stuff around her plate with her finger, searching for her next selection.
Choosing the pig in a blanket thing, Emily popped it into her mouth whole, and chewed. An amuse grin spread across her face. She could only imagine what that must look like, Vic being interrogated by a younger sister. "Perhaps I ought to give her some interrogation techniques..." Merlin knew she had a few. Though, Vic did have a point. "Smooth," she mused, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "Nope..." she added, as Vic began to question her. It was these types of conversations that often led nowhere and resulted in awkwardness. There was nobody in her life, few friends and work aside and she would not discuss it. This book was closed.
Emily distracted herself with her drink again. A few individuals? He was more than happy to include himself in that oh-so-exclusive group of people. It wasn't all cocky, it was a conclusion because if he wasn't, she wouldn't spend this much time with him tonight, would she? Vic was more social and humans-tolerant than she was, so spending time with someone wasn't all that exclusive with him. He'd spend time with anyone and make the best of their time. "I'm flattered." He replied, popping a cake piece into his mouth and grinning.
Wait, what? Nooooo. Vic was sipping from his drink when she mused about giving Lucie some tips, and he almost spat it out laughing. "I wouldn't be able to handle that." He wouldn't know for sure, though. Oh. Hmm. That just hit him, and he took his time nibbling on the cake. But yeah, he was always smooth... if he wanted to... or by luck...
The negative answer should've been simple and normal, but the way she said only a word, when she was conversing relatively lengthily with him a minute ago, made him consider that as a loaded answer. He didn't stare or pause in his drinking and eating, though.
"They did really outdo themselves with the food this year." Vic admired the sticky sweet thing in his fingers before devouring it. Mhmmm. |
