"Those were pretty good, but why bother convincing others to eat them, when you could have them yourself?" There was very little logic in that, unless you were the sharing and caring type, which she was not - not to strangers at least.
Still, they both seemed to have made some progress from last year. She had danced and socialised some, even if it was forced for the most part. Vic didn't quite count as being socialised with, she was familiar with him, he was a colleague/employee... and she was never alone at these things regardless of her datelessness. So Vic, was by default, her accidental plus one - the unfortunate soul to get trapped with her company for much of the night. Pulling one of the drinks toward her, she raised it to her lips and took a generous sip before diving in for .... a crab cake. "So how will your sister feel about you spending the night indulging your boss as opposed to finding yourself a lady?" as he had so eloquently put it at the meet and greet, "do you plan on telling her?" or was she going to be his little secret? Oh? Vic liked hearing that! The girl was one of them rare food-y girls, then, if she'd been stuffing her face this time last year as well. He grinned at that and took something else into his mouth then took a swig of his glass. "Sounds impressive to me. You sure know how to spend those employee orientations." He was still leanring and putting people into categories, sometimes you needed to hang out with socially awkward personnel just to try and get them out of their bubble or something productive like that.
Actually, Vic didn't mind the company of that one awkward young man. He'd been quite the good sport when it came to tasting weird and unfamiliar food. However, he wouldn't seek him unless Vic was in the right mood.
He was munching on a squishy piece of food when Emily shot her question. Vic had to slow down and give this a thoughtful moment in which he swallowed and took a sip from his drink. "I'm not sure she'd ask. She knows she'll lose in most of her interrogations." Prosecutor-y winning smirk right there! "Unless I let her win. Sometimes I do. This time, I think indulging my boss and finding a lady can go under the same category if we're being literal. You are a lady." Remember? Scary boss lady.
He toyed with his glass a bit before shooting the same question back at her, "You don't have someone to report to about tonight?" |
