When he opened them again, familiar question.
"Why?" Why had she spent all of that time, exerted that much energy, and even now let it effect her as it did? Had she been no more able to separate their moments, short and old though they were, from her mind than he had? How could he have let her go? He still wrestled with that thought in his mind. And it stung like a new wound to hear her seem saddened by it.
He reached his hand out for hers.
Why?
Wasn't that a loaded question. At first all she did was shrug as she tried to gather her thoughts. How did one go about explaining the type of connection she had felt. For the first time in her life she hadn't had to be guarded and suspicious. There hadn't been an ounce of fear in his eyes when he looked at her...still wasn't. Afterwards she had gone home...content.
Again she shrugged her shoulders and threw up her hands.
"I don't know. For the first time in my life I felt normal. Those few short hours spent in your company...I was relaxed and at ease. You didn't want anything more from me then my company." Her tone turned empassioned.
"And there was no fear. For the first time in my life I had met someone that didn't fear me."
Granted she had met one or two other people since then that treated her like a normal person but now wasn't the time for that. Her eyes widen when she realized her was reaching for her. He knew what touching her would do, the window it would open up for her. Was he doing it on purpose? Or was it an impulse, without thought or reason? Could she exploit that?
Would she?
