It had been... Well, Benzi didn't really know exactly how long it'd been, but they'd certainly managed to have CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS AND COME BACK in the time since The Thief had stolen his parchment.

This was perhaps his seventh visit to these areas in search for Fern the Lake Girl Quimbley, aka Aparecium Parchment Thief. He still had no clue where their common room was, but he'd followed enough Hufflepuffs down here to know it was in the area.

Pacing back and forth, he glared at any passerby who wasn't Fern. Merlin's saggy underwear, where WAS she?!
Fern came skipping down the stairs and hall. Classes were over, and if had scheduled the rest of her day correctly, she’d be able to get through her assignments with at least enough time left to read the Daily Prophet’s “Dear Lexi” section. Lexi Kennedy always had the best advice, and Fern had been following her column since the very beginning.

Someday, she would even like to submit an owl to Lexi, to have her personal dilemma printed and answered in the Prophet. But first she was going to have to pick out a good pseudonym. And it was most definitely not going to be Godzilla or – Fern caught sight of Benzi – Lake Girl.

Skidding to a halt, she watched as he paced away from her, and craned her neck to see if Cuthbert was near by. She had been carrying around his Aparecium parchment for months, meaning to return it to him, but the Ravenclaw was ALWAYS with the Slytherin. And Fern obviously couldn’t give the parchment back in front of Cuthbert.

But this time it looked like there was no one with the short first year, so Fern called out, ”Benzi!” and began digging through her tote. She wondered what he would think about the new story. Personally, Fern was starting to theorize that maybe one of the writers was an Animagus – a duck, to be precise. Now the real question was, who was smart enough at Hogwarts to be an Animagus? They had to at least be a teenager.
