Vesper
stared at her notes.
Was she reading this right?
She was supposed to dip the pestle...into the cauldron...and shake it off some so it was just moist? And then she was supposed to use it in the mortar to crush up the Hemlock seeds to a paste? Ves reread the words several times, willing herself to grasp their meaning. It was just like that sometimes. She could read something and not fully comprehend what she was seeing or the words.
Breaths, though. She just needed to continue taking breaths and all would be okay....Because if she stopped taking breaths, she would pass out and the potion would be ruined because she wouldn't be able to turn the heat off or add the rest of the ingredients. Basically.
SLOWLY lifting the pestle up, she inched it towards the cauldron's surface, eyes STARING...................
Just a bit further...and further....
AND FURTHER....
Once she'd dipped it into the mixture, Ves quickly pulled it back out and shook it...almost dropping it into the cauldron more than once.
EEP. That would have been DISASTROUS! More breathing, though...With the cup of seeds already added to the mortar, she immediately set the pestle down into it, relieved she hadn't dropped the thing.....And then she set to work, taking some of the nerves out on the contents. They needed to be a pastey consistency, according to the notes. So, Vesper worked her arm until they were nearing that look. You know, the PASTE look.
Producing a wooden spoon from her kit...because they were apparently using all the things today....she cleaned it...because others were cleaning all the things...and started scooping the paste into the cauldron. Was this right? It didn't say anything about stirring or counter-stirring. Whatever it was called.
Clockwise and counterwise. That was it. Yea, that wasn't being mentioned. So, you know, it wasn't happening.
Also, she'd been had her goggles on.
So...CHECK. CHECK. CHECK.
CHECK. SPOILER!!: Notebook!
