"Well perhaps you oughtn't be trying to sneak peaks at strangers," stating the obvious. Emily had been sitting here, minding her own business, trying to watch the competition when she caught the redhead glimpsing her. "Some would think that was rude," she added, having understood the girls private remark.
She could have left it at that, but it was the perfect opportunity to teach the girl a lesson in manners, and to never underestimate a stranger.
"Be careful who you accuse of glaring, kamrat," she added boldly.
Karina
refused to let her eyes widen in surprise, though she was very surprised. This woman just went from being a possible threat straight up the ladder to flashing red lights, warning bells, and a bit of panic. Though the woman had said "kamrat", it wasn't in a way to make Karina trust her, in fact, it had quite the opposite effect.
Outwardly, she appeared perfectly calm, but on the inside she was reeling, or she was until she realized that it wasn't such a big deal that the woman understood Swedish. Deep breath.
"I hadn't realized that anyone else here spoke Svenska. We must talk sometime, kamrat," she smiled thinly. That's right, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
She completely ignored the woman's other comment as she didn't feel the need to answer it. After all, the woman had been the one looking interestedly at the crowd; Karina had just been observant, watchful, enough to pick up on it.
