be curious, not judgmental

Still far too amused and giggling to herself, Sophie clutched her wand and magnifying glass attachment to her chest as she sprinted up to the courtyard, leaped behind a wall, and took refuge there, breathing heavily and listening for footsteps. Had Alec followed? Or Ella? She waited for half a minute before peeking her head around and realizing... no. No one was there. They had let her go? That was strange, but oddly satisfying all the same.

That had been awesome.

She felt a little bad, already planning on throwing some galleons at the Hufflepuff Seeker so he could buy some new shoes later. And she felt a little bad for lying on her written homework and saying she wouldn't be the type to try something like that. But when a willing target was positioned so openly... how was Sophie expected to resist? No one had been harmed. She had just added some flair to the kid's day. Really, if she had MISSED, she could've maybe set fire to his robes or something. So. Ella's boyfriend was lucky Sophie had aimed well despite his flailing the second time.

Pushing off the wall and making her way across the courtyard toward the school, the first year Ravenclaw felt electrified and powerful. What an awesome success that one had been. So maybe she hadn't efficiently boiled water, but she could apparently put a hole in a kid's shoe. THAT was pretty cool. She knew she could set things on fire, too, though, and as the thought crossed her mind, Sophie harnessed the sunlight shining down upon her, jabbed her wand, and murmured, "Solis Focalis!" With the magnifying glass extension aligned the way she wanted it, Sophie's beam struck a leaf on the ground with stunning accuracy, setting it aflame. Amused once again, she stomped on it cheerfully, twirled her wand in her hand, and meandered into the school, incredibly pleased with her wandwork for the day.

Hogwarts was so cool.
