Fern's face had been growing redder and redder throughout class. She didn't know any of these answers, and it was embarrassing. Tonight she would start reading that textbook and make flashcards. But for now she would remain ashamed and take as many notes as possible.

Lips pursed in concentration as she drew the Algiz, Fern quickly filled up one sheet of parchment and flipped it over to start on the other side. Every few seconds though, she glanced at the door, because she wanted to be the first to see these surprise guests!
