French had us do Arithmancy with these beards, because he said we'd get better answers this way. He gave the entire class an actual beard. Then at the end of class, he just said goodbye and left before anybody else. So now...we're all stuck."

"We thought maybe you knew of an antidote," Lucian added once Sophie finished, with squinted eyes. There was nothing wrong with his eyes, of course. He just thought it would be rude to scratch in front of his Head of House. Impressions, they are important, his mom had said. And so he tried to ignore the urge.
