The first, was all right, but the second? She didn't care for the second much. "Mhmm," she hummed in agreement. "Can't say I've ever tasted it, but tangy doesn't sound so bad," she joked with a small smirk on her face.
She nodded in response to his question and pulled her satchel onto her lap to retrieve her textbook and quill. "Yeah, I was just about to start on it," she replied easily. Maybe if she kept getting practice like this, she wouldn't be such a stumbling buffoon one day. Yeah sure, one day... she mused sarcastically in her head. She noticed he'd started on his puzzle already, judging by the marks on his parchment, and she surmised from the quill chewing that perhaps one of the clues was giving him some trouble. Though she doubted she'd know more than him, she opened her mouth anyway. "Are you very far with yours?" she asked pleasantly. Maybe we could work together on it? ....Go on. Say it. Say it? Maybe? No... Maybe. She busied herself by looking intently at the introduction page of her textbook, hoping maybe that way he couldn't look at her and read her thoughts or anything, which was really something she wouldn't put past his abilities. Once she felt more composed, she peaked a hazel eye at him, sidelong, to see what he had to say.
... what? West gave Eliza a slightly surprised look, his brain deciding to interpret that as her saying that she'd not tasted tangy lips before. Huh? Ohwait she meant the ink. Right. Right. Random. He chewed his lip and absently examined his progress on the puzzle so far, though he was listening to her as she spoke.
"Yeah, I'm nearly done I think, on account of I know all the possible answers to the clues, its just working out what they appear like in the puzzle." Paaaaaause.
"I only found one of the horses in there." And he didn't know if they were both in there but the clue didn't specify just one of them.
"And I haven't found any of the gifts. Got the rest though." That was the easy bit, the clues and all.
