There were also a few other things holding back his usual toothy grin, and two of them were already present.
Medea and Calista.
Having had two run ins with both women over the summer he would have assumed that the strange sensation of having his insides tangle into knots would have subsided, but alas. He just needed to act cool. Natural. Like nothing was wrong. Only everything WAS wrong. At least Calista looked confident - as she should be given her new position. Medea, on the other hand, well, let's just say he could empathize with her. Fidget fidget fidget.
Taking one last deep breath Airey stepped up to the table and instead of making a straight line towards his seat he decided to delay the inevitable passing of the two women and lingered around the new professor for a moment. More like loomed really. "GOOD evening!" he practically shouted at her because of his nerves. "Professor Flamsteed, I teach Astronomy. Here, have a poster," he said as he unceremoniously set one down in front of her. "Yes, well, welcome to Hogwarts then."
And now he was just going to walk RIGHT past Calista and Medea... only his body moved on its own and before he knew it he had placed two posters in front of them too. "Evening, Cadea...Malista," he said, grinning like an awkward cheshire cat for a few moments. "Lovely to see you both here." Sweet solstice did they both have nice hair tonight. As if he had the confidence to tell either one of them that though. It wasn't as easy as simply saying. "I like your hair.......uh um uh um uh um uh um uh um I-I mean...I like the air." And there he went mumbling right on over to his seat, leaving a trail behind of small white feathers as they fell off his foot.
All alone over here. With his posters. Quote:

Before she could continue the conversation, however, a VERY loud greeting was directed at the new staff member. She blinked several times as she took in the newcomer. Are those.. feathers? This man CLEARLY did not care about his appearance at ALL. Tiara didn't care for fashion, but being well-kept and groomed was a necessity in her view.
"Good evening, Professor Flamsteed," she managed. Everyone deserved courtesy, even if they wouldn't do others the common courtesy of looking presentable. "I'm Tiara Tyner, new Quidditch Official. It's certainly a pleasure to meet you." Only then did she notice the poster he had forced on given her. After glancing at its content, she added, "And I will be sure to keep an eye out for.." she double checked, "Pebbles." Slumping in her seat a fair bit, she picked up the shiny fork and fiddled with it as she waited for the feast to begin. Or for the sorting to begin. Anything to begin really. Biting the side of her lip, she just started to flick the top of the fork when loudness with the greetings happened. ___SNIFFLING SNIDGETS! _______CLINK TINK CLINK!
Dropping her fork, which unluckily dropped from the table to the floor, she made a poor attempt at catching it while turning her focus to Airey. Who was wearing a very nice vest.......Resulting in epic hand smashing on the table. That was not an awesome feeling. Holding her ouchie hand, she didn't even notice the mistake in names. She just smiled and nodded. A lot. A lot of nods. And glancing to Callie.
"You too, here, Airey..." Airey. Air. Hair. Here. Air. Feathers.........What?
Leaning forward somewhat to glance over to the Astronomy professor, in concern or just to glance it didn't really matter, the posters finally registered in her mind and she turned her gaze towards the new Flying instructor. Who's name was, right on the tip of her brain. She was not going to let her messy chakras ruin her manners!
"Good evening." She leaned even more forward to speak past...Callie. Oh dear. Ahem. "Forgive me, it vos...Tiara Tanner you said?" SPOILER!!: Leo! Quote:

Scanning around the hall he could earn himself a moment or two to just breathe and relax. He was pretty early by the looks of things. Not many students or faculty had arrived yet.
Passing by the house tables he saw that Airey, Callie, Medea and an unknown woman had already claimed their seats on the dais. It took not many seconds to figure out that the unknown woman had taken over Erin’s job considering where she was sitting. Suppressing a sigh Leo headed up onto the dais. Suddenly sneezing loudly enough for it to echo around the hall "ATCHOOOOO!"he stopped. Wiping his nose with a handkerchief he dug out of his robes his eyes landed upon a trail of feathers on the floor heading in Airey’s direction.
Picking up a few feathers he walked over to Airey’s seat and nudged the man on the right shoulder. "Evening Airey," holding out the feathers he murmured. "I believe these are yours?" Dropping off the feathers Leo continued his walk past Calista with a cherry smile pursing his lips "Good evening Calista, nice dress and congrats on the promotion." Head of house was a big, important thing. Leaving the blond he proceeded past Medea’s seat where he hovered for a second. "Good evening Medea. You look lovely tonight." Yes, that she did. Very much so.
Leaving Medea he walked the short distance to where his new colleague/flying official without a name was sitting. "Good evening, welcome to Hogwarts! I'm Leobald Kitridge, the school librarian." He introduced himself with a bright smile. Heading over to his seat he sat down in it and closed his eyes for a moment. Trying to reach her fork on the ground without really getting out of her seat, which was a task in itself, she finally got to just grazing it with the tip of her finger when she heard her naaaaame...OH MY! Sitting up straight, her eyes widened a little before she cleared her throat and casually fixed her hair before smiling softly. "Oh, thank you, Leo. You're looking very handsome tonight as vell." SPOILER!!: Nick, Sophia, Botros, and Tiberius ♥ Quote:

Anyways, before the feast began, Nick had quickly changed his clothes in his hut to look more presentable and had dashed his way to the Great Hall. The new Groundskeeper stepped up on the platform where the staff table was and tucked a little on the sleeves of his suit. The sleeves looked a little bit tight thanks to the muscles in his arms but did he care? Naaah! He looked around first, wondering which seat was his. "Good evening everyone" he greeted.Did it really matter where he sat down? He would find out soon enough cause he sat down on an empty space and casually leaned back in the chair. He was back. Quote:

Hopefully they wouldn't be served slop this year?
Where was Theodore? She'd send him an owl after the feast so he could meet her in her office the following morning..yes she'd do that.
Everyone at the table got a 'good evening' and a nod..Leo got a smile of course and she made the sign of the cross and directed that at Medea. Also she hung some garlic near her office door.
After settling in she continued looking around the Great Hall in usual Bellaire manner...judging...always judging. Quote:

He wanted to save his energy for the food later, thank you very much. So instead he raised his cane in the air and made a huge wave with it, "Nice to meet you, miss and mister. I'm sure we'll have a better opportunity to chat later." Cane was lowered and he finally slumped onto his seat.
Just as he rested his walking cane on the edge of the table, he noticed the poster the Astronomy young man was showing to the others. Botros wondered what kind of mischief bizarre business the stars man was on this time but politely kept to himself. Then he spotted miss Romanos and Callie sitting a few seats away from him. He flashed them an extra smile. He wouldn't hear them over the students chatter, unfortunately. Or well, he would after a few tries.
Also. He moved his seat a few steps away from the Arithmancy's seat next to him. The woman could be still emotionally unstable and frankly he didn't want any closure tonight. Scoot scoot scoot! Quote:

He stopped by his office briefly dropped of his things and threw on the only nice suit he had. He walked to the dias and with both his hands pushed his hair up. Where was he supposed to sit? He looked over each empty seat, stopped when he eyed a blonde haired well dressed guy minus one shoe, and feathers sitting in front of him "FLAMS!" Tiberius screeched in his high-pitched mousy voice as he moved along to where his friend sat. "Sorry, about not telling you I was on the train. I'll make it up to you later." He slapped Airey on the back, and looked down at the posters in front of him. Flams should at least put a smile on to show off those nice new set of chompers.
Not wanting to be entirely rude, he gave the old guy a smile who was at the end of the table, and the two ladies who were two seats down from Flamsy...blushed at the sight of the blonde one, and turned his attention back to the old guy. "Hey there, nice night out isn't it. My names Dursley, Tiberius Dursley."Gotta respect the elders first, greet them before greeting anyone else. Resuming her mission to try and reach her fork, she noticed a few more of the staff members arriving at the table with her little line of vision that she had...from practically under the table itself. But alas! She got her fork, without leaving her seat. Gold star to her!
Using her wand to clean it, she smiled and nodded to what looked to be...well honestly, she didn't know who the man was. Which seat was he sitting in again? Leaning a little against the table to try and see, her attention was diverted to the ever lovely Transfiguration professor giving her a oh so funny hand signal sign thing. Har har, funny.
Medea made her own heart sign and directed that back to the woman.
Oh, and of course Botros! "Good evening, Botros." She smiled warmly towards the man, making a mental note to at least visit the professor's office this term. Or something. Though she wasn't going to make it to the end of the feast with all these unexpected loud greetings. Good Merlin! Least she didn't have anything to drop this time.
Ahem. New professor. Medea smiled hesitantly back. New...slapping greeting professor. SPOILER!!: Melanie Quote:

She made her way around the table, nodding at the few professors already present that she had to pass before sitting in her seat. The Astronomy professor was already there, to her right, she took the opportunity to say hi. "Melanie Roman, new Care of Magical Creatures professor," was that obvious? "...nice to meet you," she stuck out her hand for a shake.
And only a seat away from her to her left was another professor, though she couldn't remember what subject they'd teach. Melanie stuck out a hand to her, as well, "Melanie Roman."
Now to find out who would be on her immediate left...
The other professors were too far away right now to be politely greeted. Surely she'll catch them another time, in the staff lounge, or another meal, or perhaps just in the hall. And even more new staff members were joining them. Hopefully, a little quieter and weren't too animated with their greetings like what she just witnessed, but, they are who they are! She would appreciate the fun nature of it.
Oh! Magical creatures she'd said? Or...right?
"A pleasure to meet you." she spoke kindly with a smile to match, reaching out to shake the woman's hand. "Medea Romanos. Defense Against the Dark Arts." SPOILER!!: Boss lady Quote:

Annie settled into her seat once her judgy blue eyes had given everyone a once-over. She gave a polite smile to the new Groundskeeper on her right, and a cool nod to the new Quidditch instructor on her left. Well. The woman wasn't Erin and this groundsman was no Firth, but they would do. They'd seemed.......qualified enough.
Annie filled up her water goblet while she waited for more students to get here. Look at that, real silverware. Should she point that out in her speech? The children ought to be grateful. Having thoroughly scrubbed her fork until it was shiny and new looking again, perhaps a little too much, she set it down and straightened out her setting. And then did so again, rearranging the items around until...
They were right back where they started.
Oh look! Headmistress! Looking mighty serious and all of that, in a rather unnecessary fur coat from whatever poor creature it once belonged to but that wasn't what mattered. The feast was going to start sooooooon! SPOILER!!: McShifty Pants Minerva Quote:

The idea sounded better in her head back on the train where she didn't see the staff members faces. Taking a deep breath she didn't speak to any of them nor make eye contact. Maybe if she didn't make eye contact they wouldn't notice the prefect going behind the chairs. Not staying in front of the table.
She was thinking about last term as she continued and how fragile and weak she was. Then that detention happened and made things incredibly worse for her, but then the dementors and Tillstorm actually helped her. That was still bugging Minerva. Why would the wacka doodle help her after she was so mean to her. It made no sense to the seventh year, but neither did what she was about to do, but she wanted to do it for some reason. Maybe she wanted to prove that her spirit hadn't been broken last term by the evil women or maybe she was still a bit crazy for even thinking about let alone doing what she was about to do.
Pulling out the Healers empty chair Minerva made herself comfortable. Sitting in the healers seat. Yes the healers seat. Well this was an interesting view of the tables. So this is how it felt to be the healer at the start of term feast. She could really see it. Healer Wheatborn McCarthy taking over the evil healers spot to make the school have a nice caring healer. One that wouldn't terrify the students so much. It had a nice ring to it if she said so herself. This could work she had to admit.
She turned her head smiling at the new victim grounds keeper. Well this was the what sixth new groundskeeper in her seven terms here. Good luck to you sir. Min kept the smile on her face even though her nerves were getting the best of her. She would sit and wait for Tillstorm to come. Now they have had students come up to the staff table before the speech was made plenty of times before, so she didn't pay much attention when one of their new prefects came up the steps. Until Medea looked up a moment later and couldn't find the girl standing anywhere.
What...she change her mind? Headmistress glare at her to death or something?
...Oh dear, the thought made even her shudder. |
