Gwen followed the flow of students onto the train and was quickly faced with a dilemma. Where was she supposed to sit? Ideally she would have gotten on first, picked somewhere empty, and if nobody wanted to sit by her, she would be left alone, and if they did, she was there first and they couldn't very well kick her out.

The compartments were filling up quickly. If there was one thing Gwen had learned from her brothers getting into all that trouble was that if you looked like you owned the situation, few people would question you. She tossed her hair back and stepped into a compartment with only one person. He was leaning against the window and sketching so she dragged her trunk in and plopped down across from him raising one eyebrow as if daring him to object.
