McMillan was famous for working as a team with production designer Stuart Craig from the very start of the series in
Sorcerer's Stone, all the way through
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. She, with Craig, were nominated for several Academy Awards for their work on the series. McMillan won a Oscar prior to her work on the Harry Potter series, for the 1996 Best Picture recipient
The English Patient, which she shared with Craig.
Harry Potter actors James Phelps and Chris Rankin spoke about the loss this week.
McMillan is survived by her partner Phil Hardy, and their children Tamsin and Sasha. Our condolences to her family in this trying and sad time.
