There was a time when Melanie had asked a million questions. Now she wondered if this is what the other people felt like when they were asked question after question... like they were put there in the middle of a spotlight, trying to find the right answer.

Her first instinct was to say no. She had gotten so used to saying no that she didn't like him. It had taken her a while to get herself to say that and truly believe it. Then he just casually waltzed back into her life and made it hard for her to tell herself that again. These were the moments where she wasn't sure who to listen to; the brain or the heart or the gut? Usually the heart and the gut agreed on the same things and it was usually two against one so Melanie felt obligated to side with the side with the one and it ended up in a tie.

After a long pause, and a bit of fiddling with her bracelet, she closed her eyes and let out a breath. "Yes."

And that was all she was saying.
