Once the offering was made, Ethan got to his feet and looked up at the tree. His eyes wandered over the branches until he found the one remembered to be the branch he and the tree and chosen as the proper one to cut for his Gandr.

He lifted his hand up, running his fingers along the length of the branch until they just about came to the base where it joined to the trunk. He lifted his wand, pointing it at the spot right next to his fingers. "Diffindo," he commanded, moving his wand in a slashing motion. The brunch separated from the body of the tree as it was magically severed and he caught it in his hand.

His eyes fell on the trees wound next. It was spring so he knew he should seal it or else it risk infection or bug infestation. Not in possession of bituminous paint at the moment, he raised his wand and magically sealed it.
