He didn't mind getting hurt...but it seemed pointless to do it on purpose.
"Silly Lion..." Dylan focused on the dummy once more, allowing himself to focus and think about his magic moving and meddling with the dummy in front of him. This was the last one he needed for Professor Romanos' challenge...and then Alice could start her run of 'contego' shields. The Slytherin could feel it building...His concentration working overtime for the spell to become a reality...and a tangible thing...All that.
Inhaaaaaaaale. Exhaaaaaaaaale.
"Contego dummy!" He exclaimed as his wand traced out the upwards zig-zag towards the dummy. Did Alice SEE the concentration on his face? DID SHE? It couldn't be swayed.
Heh.
"You are UP, lady."...and then he stepped to the side to let her do her thang.
"Are you calling me dumb?" Dylan just couldn't work the tongue wag like she could. It wasn't a thing for everyone, Alice supposed, and she was just talented enough to pull it off.
The concentration was evident on his face as he cast the spell, she could see it. And then it was her last turn for the jinx. The fifth year pointed her wand again, tracing the check shape and flourishing her hand again at the end in the correct movement.
"Flipendo!" And duck, she had to do that too. The jinx narrowly missed her once more, and Alice stayed upright, eyeing the dummy warily. Was she meant to cast a shield now?
She remembered him maneuvering his wand in a distinct upward zig-zag motion, so she tried to imitate it as she cast the shield.
"Contego dummy!" Had that worked? Dylan got expectant looks as she waited for him to give it a go.
