Ancient Runes #14 Who Am I? Ern's 2460FUN Returning from the most MORTIFYING experience of his Hogwarts experience, which did include the dementor attacks-- walking around a tree and singing to it-- Ascanius was ready to get back to the Dungeons and move onto the next step of his never ending journey for the Runes project. But this part was going to be difficult. He had to leave the Gandr out for a WHOLE moon cycle (pretentious way of saying a month) and work on it with each passing day so it would be in the BEST shape to perform the final part of the project. At least now the end was in sight, yeah?
Anyway, he brought it back up to the Slytherin Study Tables and sat down with it. Ascanius tilted his head at the thing so that he could get a better look at how he was going to go about tackling this project when he decided he would smooth this surface like a surf board.
Growing up in the home, he had gone on very few holidays with the Hughes and the other kids. But the most FREQUENT one that they went on was heading down to the water on a warm day and hanging out on the sand. It was close by and convenient, but also really fun. And he used to watch all of the people around who surfed smooth out their boards. They would do it with a sander...and that was what he was going to do.
So Ascanius went to work looking for a spell to transfigure something INTO a sander. But before he put forth all of that work he remembered that they had all been working on revamping the Common Room since the elves had gone AWOL. And they had been using SAND PAPER on the Common Room floors to smooth them out and clean them.
In that case, Ascanius went over to the cleaning supplies for the Common Room and grabbed some sandpaper. With it in hand, he slowly went to work brushing it up and down like Karate Kid on his Gandr. He tried to not do it too rough as if to hurt the wood, but put enough pressure in to make a difference.
....and he did this for several days for about five minutes each night.
