Ancient Runes #10 Who Am I? Ern's 2460FUN And now that he had his wood stuff all in order from the weirdest and LONGEST assignment he had ever had the misfourtune to ever be a part of he supposed he was ready to write this song thing. He understood music, it was always the same set of rules and rhythm was consistent, yeah? Drums were the best on a TOTALLY related note. Ahem. P-p-pun.
Now anyway, he had to write a song. Maybe, since it was fresh in his mind from the Shakespearean insult book that he had been enjoying, he would write it in Iambic Pentameter. 'Cause that would be cool and stuff mostly because Billy Shakes was the man. Knew how to write the best stuff and he was super witty. Smirk. Would've been a Slytherin bar none.
So in honour of how awesome HE and SHAKESPEARE were that was how he was going to write this song. Fourteen lines. 10 syllables. ABAB format. Done and done, yeah?
Pulling out a piece of parchment, Ascanius went to work thinking up a song that would befit his Oak tree. His plain and boring and totally useless Oak tree.
Dipping his quill in some ink, he mulled over how he was going to thank his Oak tree. JEEZ, THIS WAS SO STUPID AND HE DID NOT WANT TO BE HERE at all. It was an Oak tree after all, not some pretty girl who'd appreciate and listen to the song. But he was gonna Bruce Springstein this thing. Poem it up and then write a tune. Best song writers were poets after all. To write a song about your branches long
Would be a slight to your true power's might.
And so to you I dedicate this song.
Beloved Oak, I marvel at your sight.
T'were many men who asked for your bark
But nature is a cold and brutal force
So you denied them all save myself, Stark.
I was granted bark straight from your kind source.
He looked it over a few times and sighed. Yeah, it was definitely doing what it was supposed to do but it sounded STUPID. Really stupid because he was writing a song about wood. Sure, maybe going about it in the old sense was better then trying to make it modern and make it even DUMBER, but this assignment was irritating him. Ugh. And more ugh.
