Ancient Runes [Post #5] Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese
It was really strange...but as Dylan was touching the tree...it was almost like he could feel a tiny heartbeat. It could have been a phantom heartbeat or whatever that was called...but it felt so real beneath his fingertips. Or....was that the yew tree giving him and answer? The Slytherin blinked rapidly, quickly redrawing his hands to rest back in his lap.
Hmm. Weird.
Confused by the 'heartbeat' he'd felt, he rechecked his notes to see what was next. It was time to make an offering...The Captain sighed, suddenly happy he'd been too paranoid to leave his trunk in the dorms. He could find SOMETHING to offer to the tree in there...
Pulling his bag closer...Dylan quickly dug his hand down into it, moving it openly around the space. Trunk....where were you? Finally feeling the hard wood of one of it's edges, he pulled it out, the trunk having been shrunken down for his convenience. The great thing about being able to do magic outside of school...was that everything was so easy to carry around...So, yep. This had been the situation from before school had officially started back.
Tapping it and muttering "Engorgio!", the trunk re-sized to what was normal and Dylan sheathed his wand. Popping the sucker open, he glanced over at the tree. "What would you like as an offering, yew tree?" Really, Dylan didn't know what trees liked. Did it want some....sap....or something? He had a vial in his potions kit. Hmmmmm... A chocolate frog? Some special ink? A few galleons?...He was at a loss... ...Or....
Dylan glanced down at what he had in his hands...shakily holding its golden perfection. The offering needed to be something he loved, right? Well, there was nothing Dylan loved more than Quidditch...and being a seeker...and catching his snitches...
He grasped the snitch in his hand a bit tighter.
It was decided, then...Pulling his wand, he resized his trunk again and put it back in his bag...still vice-gripping one of his personal trophies like his life depended on it. Would he be able to come and retrieve it later...when he finished with all the galdr stuff? Would that have been acceptable? "I offer you the third snitch I ever won...It was a close match with Ravenclaw..." Also offering details with his offering...Unearthing some dirt at the base of the tree, he kiss the snitch one last time and carefully dropped it in. Merlin, this was hard...Was he getting it back? No, no, no...He knew he wasn't getting it back...but.... Sigh.
Covering it up, he carefully patted at the dirt. "I hope you'll accept it..."
