Dylan continued to kneel in front of the tree, touching it's bark him with gentle hands. Could the tree feel that? It was clearly his idea of a piece offering of sorts. Dylan wanted them to be great friends...and then he wanted to take some bark to make an AWESOME Galdr. As far as the communication thing went, though...Was this considered good enough?

He really didn't know what else to do...but to be safe..."Sup." STARE, pat, pat, pat..."My name's Dylan..." Pat, pat, pat...Rub, rub, rub..."I hope we can be friends, great and powerful yew tree." Ah-hah. See what he did there? Flattery never hurt any situation...

He settled back on the balls of his feet, still reaching out for the tree, continuing to talk to it..."I'm about to ask you something very serious...and I hope you won't get upset."...or come to life and stomp of me. THERE WAS STILL THE FEAR THAT THAT WOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN. There was some more rubbing and gentle patting..."As you may already know...a lot of people have been in the forest lately collecting wood. We've got this really cool Runes assignment and we've got to pick a special tree and all that to get bark from..." More flattery...All the flattery....Special tree was special...Pat, pat, pat..."I chose you, yew tree."

That was obviously a compliment.

"May I take some of your bark to make my galdr?"

After asking so very nicely, Dylan stood and proceeded to walk around the large yew tree once...just like the hands of a clock...and then again....for a second time....and then a third time...THREE full walks around the tree...and after doing so, he slowly resumed his spot at the foot of it, reaching his hands out again to touch the tree's trunk.
