Botros pulled the parchment closer to him and fixed his glasses on his nose bridge. "Eihwaz is for the long 'I', such as the pronoun 'I'. Your name is Asher, is that correct?" The man had forgotten the boy's name (like usual) but he'd guessed from the runic scribble on the parchment. "So you use Ehwaz the one equivalent to 'e'." he pointed behind him on the tablet written on the blackboard.
Next. Botros nodded approvingly at what the boy has written so far. "The rest is very good, great job. But you can't write 'see' as the single English letter 'c'. You write it as 'Si'. The same goes for 'You', you write it as 'Yu'." He pointed at those two words on the little kid's parchment. "You can write year as such." He took the quill from the boy and wrote down "Yir". "So it's Jera, Isa and Raidho." There! He looked back at Asher's face and smiled. "Everything good so far?" Who was he sending it to, by the way? HMM. Curious Botros was curious.
"Yes, Asher. My name is Asher." He watched as the professor pointed to the blackboard.
"Oh, I understand. Well, I think I do" he said as Professor Botros explained the I and E sounds.
After listening to him explain and write out a few of Asher's missing words, the boy gave it another go.

Asher really hoped he was at least headed in the right direction. He didn't want to start carving until he was more sure of himself. He placed his parchment on the Professors desk.
