Well, that hadn't had the desired result. Maybe he'd end up having to grovel now, really grovel, especially as he'd scared the lad and the birds. He hadn't really thought about scaring him. If he was honest, he'd have found it hilarious if he had fallen in. That was the sort of thing that amused him in his strange mind.
"Uh, yeah, sorry about that!" Harland said, looking at the ducks who were fleeing, before back to the other. "I was just hoping to get some bread! Any chance of a bit? I'm starving!" He hadn't eaten in two hours. Two whole hours! He was desperate! Besides, if it was good enough for the ducks, it was good enough for him. Realising that the other boy probably though he was weird, he sat back, his face reverting to its usual state as he grinned.
"Uhm... It's a little stale," he said slowly, breaking some off,
"some people in my common room didn't exactly want to eat it, and I haven't had a chance to bring it down until today. But I suppose that's not a problem, if you enjoy being a duck." He watched Harland, raising his eyebrows in an amused manner. The boy was crazy, weird, but friendly enough, even if he did want old bread.
"There's fresh bread in school, though..." He reminded him, passing him a piece.
"Which I doubt the poor ducks ever get."
Harrison shifted about on the grass a little, watching the ducks carefully, in hope he hadn't scared them all away totally. He liked them, really. The duck boy was just a little... odd.
"Are you in my year?" He asked politely, thinking he couldn't just share bread with a stranger and leave it at that.
"Sixth Year, that is." Harland was a face he recognised from around school, but had never really spoken to, for lack of a need to. And he certainly wasn't in Hufflepuff.
