He knew that once you cleaned something it wouldn't stay clean forever. Someone should invent that though, never having to clean again....and without spending money because apparently a maid means he has to pay them and that too was BLEEEH!

Why was being an adult so boring? Could he turn back time and be a kid forever? But if he hired a house elf he or she would work for free right? "It would be so cool to have a house elf but...i also think that its sad that they work so hard for nothing" *WIBBLE* And he couldn't really blame the house elves at the school for leaving. though he still suspected that hadn't been the case and that SOMEONE set them free

Post Hogwarts career

"I did give it a thought..." he muttered, "I'm thinking about working at a clothing store or something in the muggle world and then i'll see what will happen" AND HE BETTER COME VISIT THE STORE SOMETIMES!

Although he was excited with having found something, his expression was different. He was biting his lower lip the whole time and shuffled in the chair nervously. His eyes went to the bag on the ground where he knew a letter from his father was in.

He looked up at the Professor and became silent. He wanted to tell someone about this, just so that he wasn't going to explode with thoughts and worries. He thought deeply for another few moments before nodding his head. "Pr-professor can i tell you something? i really need to get this out of my system and i actually wanted to tell this to Professor Magnus but she's not here anymore and Kurumi and Jonathan aren't here as well and they were the only people who listened to me and ..." His hands began to shake nervously and he tried to take a deep breath to calm himself. "You only need to listen but please don't tell anyone" like...NO ONE.
"I wouldn't feel too bad for house elves," he replied with a shake of the head. They seem to enjoy what they do well enough and as long as their owners treat them with respect all is well." He knew how some wizarding families could be though. Abusing house elves simply because they were willing slaves gave wizards a bad name. "The Hogwarts elves are among some of the better off ones."

OH! IN THE MUGGLE WORLD!? "WHERE?!" he practically shouted at the boy due to his enthusiasm. "I mean..." he coughed a bit to clear his throat. "Do you feel prepared for such a thing? The muggle world is drastically differnt from the wizarding one. They have these traps just for fingers. They trick you into thinking it is just some harmless toe too."

And then the Slytherin prefect got really serious. Airey was familiar with the former Transfiguration professor, but the other two names were completely foreign to him. Must be students who had graduated prior. He thought he had come across both their names while looking through old yearbooks while he got adjusted to his new position on staff. "I cannot promise not to tell, Mr. Katharos depending on what it is you are about to tell me." Surely the boy understood. Depending on the severity of whatever it was.

For now, heading into the office. Lex went straight to the seat she normally sat at without being invited to sit. Kinda bad form when she thought about it but then she wasn't thinking much, she was trying not to until she had ice-cream and Professor Airey saying nice things.

While she waited on him to get over whatever attack he'd faced on his way to open the door, she sat quietly and hoped there wouldn't be anymore.

Noises. Just no.
Rubbing his nose a bit, Airey returned to his seat and flopped into it. His eyes were still watering quite a bit from the impact, so it was somewhat difficult to see at the moment, but things were clearing up quite a bit.

And he wasn't entirely sure he was happy about what he saw. Miss Cambridge was not herself. Please no tears, alright? He was bad with them. REALLY bad with them.

"What can I do for you, Miss Cambridge?"
SPOILER!!: OMG SHE DIDN'T!?

Lottie kept her eyes on him as he spoke. They way he'd started that sentence made her believe that what she was about to listen was something that her ears would enjoy. So she nodded. And then the biggest smile ever appeared on her face. It was time for tea!

Admirable. N'awww, that was some kind of awesome. Especially coming from Airey. "Thank you, Professor." Because it was totally a compliment.

Tea time! But she wiped whatever was left of her tears away before drinking more raspberry tea. And then it happened. How did he--?? It was really that obvious, wasn't it? Like, sure, some of her classmates knew, her housemates certainly did know, but Professors? Not really, no. So she was definitely surprised to hear this. But she didn't interrupt him, she was actually curious about what else he could add to make this the worse day ever.

Oh.

Loyalty. Right. "She's my best friend." It was the thing you did. It didn't relate to loyalty. She was in denial, of course. But, she felt the need to finish her tea and stoop up, she was going to tell him something, something she's never said before, out in the open, at least, and walked to his science fiction models. Don't worry, we're not touching, we're just looking. Or pretending to. "You know, loyalty runs in all the Houses, though they may differ from one to another in a certain way," this is true, there were all sorts of loyalty. It could be towards books, facts, or justice, but it was there. "My family...," she kept on looking at the display case, "...they all belonged in Slytherin." FACT. "The colors, the House, it was all I knew while growing up," it had been all she wanted, this is why Airey could understand, "All I wanted was to belong in the House of Green and Silver...," she smiled, looking away from the case and up to...hey, was that a drawing made by Oakey? "...I guess we know how that turned out." Well, hellooooo, yellooow??? "No one really cares about this but me, actually." They were entirely fine with Lottie being a Hufflepuff, that was even more upsetting to her. "It is something really hard to accept, but we don't get to know why we don't get the things we want, do we?" THIS she said while looking at him, the man who'd Silencio'd Oakey according to that drawing. "Doesn't matter how bad we want it, sometimes it doesn't happen." She was starting to feel like she needed ice cream again. "Being loyal is a very human trait." Well, she was back to her chair now, because she'd concluded her little speech, sort of, "It does not belong to Hufflepuffs alone." What she was saying was: Please do not try to make this any better by bringing Hufflepuff, it won't work. And she WILL cry, so stop it.

So, now that she was sitting and had had a spoon of ice cream, she smiled sweetly at him. "Thank you, though." It was truly very nice of him. Very un-Gryffindor like. "The Sorting Hat makes mistakes from time to time." Loyalty was also mentioned to Harry Potter, a Gryffindor. Point made.

MERLIN!

This next topic made her former smile return. The rocks. Sure, not as glamorous as jewels, but they serve their purpose, so..it was all good. "I knew it had been you." Because, who else, right?

He managed to suppress a chuckle when it seemed as though Miss Wisteria was using the fact that her and Miss Cambridge were best friends as an almost excuse for her showing loyalty. He knew plenty of people in his day who had best friends who would not do the same, but he would just leave those thoughts to himself for now.

Especially after she suddenly stood up like that.

Her words hit him like the asteroid that cause the extinction of the dinosaurs. BAM BOOM WOW. The astronomer was speechless and had he not been socially awkward (not to mention he was pretty sure she did not want one) he would have given the young lady a hug.

A lot of what she said hit very close to home for him as well. Not that he was going to cry about it, however. Ice cream seemed to take away the desire to do so. "It is always the hardest when we disappoint ourselves," he nodded, his lips forming the tiniest of frowns. He could not share in her house dreams. His entire family had been Gryffindors, so he could only imagine what it would have felt like to have been sorted into Hufflepuff. He was still convinced that that was where the groundskeeper should have been put. So yes, Miss Wisteria, he understood and could entertain the thought of the Sorting Hat making a mistake.

"It hurts us most when we put all our energy, heart, and effort into something and believe, full heartedly, we can achieve it. Disappointment is a sort of the black hole of the universe. A black hole of a soul that expends too much in hope and expectation only to have all the light sucked in so that it cannot escape," he said, momentarily forgetting to pop another spoonful of ice cream into his mouth. Of course he was still speaking in regards to Miss Wisteria's words, but his thoughts were also wandering into his own personal life. His own dreams that would never come true.

"You are correct, Miss Wisteria. We do not always know why we do not get what we want. What we have worked towards. However, each disenchantment, whether it is a minor disappointment or a major shock, is the signal that things are moving into transition in our lives. While your sorting went in an unfavorable direction for you, what bad REALLY has come from it? You said so yourself that your family is no less proud of you. You have made many friends, a best friend, and are an outstanding student. So you don't get to wear green and silver robes," he said while waving his hand dramatically and making a loud SCOFFing noise. "You are still growing into becoming an outstanding witch. And a loyal one at that." And wasn't that much more important than what an old hat told you?

Should he have stood up for that speech? Probably so considering that she had stood during her's. But it was too late now and standing would just be awkward and....Yep, more ice cream into the mouth now.

"Did you really?" he asked with a chuckle. "What gave it away?" Was it Pebbles?
