So off she followed the kiddo back to their seat and just like him put everything down. Now the real fun began, the real reading. She'd let him go first this time, it was only fair...unless he wanted to see how things were done? But she could always guide him if need be.
"You ready for what's next?" She didn't exactly give him time to reply, because they'd have to get going anyways. "So take the ink and the rubber pad." She did as she said with hers. "Then push the pad into the ink." Squiiish. Once again followed her own instructions. "Now take the rubber pad and press it against your left hand, kiddo. Once your hand has ink, press it against the glass and then walla."She lifted up her own glass and showed him her right hand print.
If he had finished with his print, then he could read hers. She handed it over. "Read the heart line. This one." She showed him which line on her actual hand that was now filled with ink. He understood then?
Right.
Yes.
Right.
Tobias was carefully watching everything Ness did and actually properly listening too. Focusing on lessons was a lot easier when you were working with another student, especially the older ones that helped you out and stuff. Usually he just zoned out and that was that. This time he was ON THIS.
"Left hand," Tobias repeated and held up said hand in front of him before picking up the rubber pad and mimicking Nessie exactly by pressing it into the ink. Then he pressed his left hand on the inky stamp and then his inky hand onto the glass. When he pulled it away he noted that it wasn't a perfect print but it was pretty okay for a first try AND you could still see the lines. It wasn't like the fingerprints were that important anyway, right?
"Sweet."
Swapping his glass slab with Nessie's, Tobias looked at where she pointed on her own hand. Okay... that hand. Right.
He could do this.
Staring at the glass slab, Tobias tilted his head curiously and staaaaared at the line. Yes. Right. There were things on the board he was meant to be looking for, so Tobias quickly went down the list looking for the right things. There weren't many he could be certain that he saw, but there were definitely a couple. It was difficult not to touch the glasses and trace the line but he was worried he might smudge it. Eventually he added more to his notes rather than say it out loud just in case he disturbed the Head Girl or anyone else in their working.

- our hands look super similar and I peeked at her notes and she put air hand for me so that makes hers an air hand too
Heart line
- it kind of blatantly starts right under the index finger which means she's content with her love life... that's super good!
- it's also kind of long and I guess you could say it's curvy so that means she freely expresses emotions and feelings... that's also good. This is a good hand to have.
- I can't really tell the if the other stuff is there but I think that's plenty
Having finished that, Tobias leaned away from his parchment and nudged it so Nessie could read it if she wanted to. That done, he scratched at an itch on his face, leaving an inky smudge up the side of his cheek which he couldn't see and was not aware of.
Then he just kind of glanced every now and then towards the Professor. He was seeing flaws in this divination stuff, and wasn't sure he really believed it was that legit, but said nothing.
"That was fun," he told Ness.
"I liked the stamping part."
