Upon reading the note, James re-read it, then glanced up at Oakey with curiosity. "How did you conduct your study and come to these conclusions, Mister Gunter?" Was this from his personal experience? And was he implying that there was something in these foods that was bad, or did he believe they were simply not an ideal source of fuel?
How did he do it?
"Well it was Flamsteed's detention. He retrieved ruined and dirty robes. Made me smell, and inspect the stains on them, then clean the robes." That was only half of the detention. James didn't need to know about him picking through Owl pellets for sickles and knuts.
"I don't have the actual list he made me write up, but on it are each of the types of stains." Was this conversation getting gross yet?
"I could go to Toodles, and ask him what he's using in the food, just to make sure it's not his doing." He trusted the elf wasn't putting things in the food, and it was just everyones weird obsession with sweets that made them devour the stuff unrelentingly.
