Kendall wasn’t scared. At least, she was determined not to show it if she was, just as she was determined to resolutely keep her hair its normal pink-streaked auburn. If that stayed normal, then she had control over everything else. The pathway was heading awfully close to the forest, though, and all that was making her think about was the acromantulas that she knew just had to be hiding in there waiting to come after her like that one from before in the Arithmancy maze years ago. She kept telling herself that she was safe, and she had Patrick’s Batman hoodie to help comfort her too. No acromantulas would invade the prefect event, and nothing at the event would be half as unnerving as the spider-y creatures. She could handle whatever was planned, and in a way, the path was very cool. It set the creepy mood, anyway, and she grinned as it had all opened up into a big area with food and seats and other stuff. She hadn’t quite decided if she was going to try any of the obstacle course things yet, but at least she could watch. With the chocolate that was stashed in her hoodie pockets.

She wasn’t going to completely avoid checking out the food that had been provided, though. She didn’t want to be rude to Beezus and the other prefects, who had probably put a lot of thought into the provisions. Therefore, heading over to the buffet tables, she’d noted Mo talking to a girl she hadn’t met yet, and Mika talking to two boys with an older one not-so-subtly eyeing her as well, almost like she used to imagine Jeremiah did to her when she’d first invited Patrick to Galway. All those suspicions were long past by now. She wondered if her boyfriend was going to make his way out here, anyway, but for now she was on her own and getting ready to find something to munch while she watched the other events. Except she was staying away from the spider cupcakes. Those reminded her too much of baby acromantulas to want to eat them. She leaned over to drop five sickles into the pay station, however, scooping up one of the little wormy mud cups as she reached around Penelope, Professor Hadley and a couple others. “’Scuse me,” she said, giving them a grin. It was still an awesome event, even if there were scary spider cupcakes.
